THE CURIOUS SOMMELIER PAUL MARTZOUKOS

The Hospitality industry is in his blood.  His father is Greek after all, and yes, he grew up in a restaurant.

He became a full time wine professional in 1995, and was one of Western Canada’s first Certified Sommeliers. Since then he has been a Wine Instructor, Wine Importer, Restaurateur, Wine Retailer, Hospitality Consultant/Trainer and Tour Host.

His vast experience in the Wine Industry and his natural curiosity gives him unique insight and perspective on the food & wine experience.  He is most proud of the fact that though he is seriously good at what he does, he does not take himself seriously and is constantly learning, exploring and having fun!

Pauls passion comes through in everything he does and never more so than when given the opportunity to craft a unique experience for people who are looking for the unordinary; whether a bottle of wine, a tasting, or a tour.

The WINE TOUR series will take you to wine regions to experience them in a way that is not available to most people.  This is an intimate tour with like minded people. Meet the winemakers, eat special meals in special places, explore the regions with a history buff that LOVES finding incredible hidden gems.

Expect glamorous and elegant when called for but more often than not, you’ll have amazing, authentic experiences that will blow you way.

What Our Clients Say

I went on the Curious Sommelier tour on a whim not really knowing what was in store for me.
Obviously there would be a bit of wine involved but Pauls amazing knowledge and his simple way of conveying it  made me appreciate the grape even more. If I was in the mood to ‘Geek out” on a Malagousia or just live in the moment with a nice rose I could be satisfied. Meeting the wine maker, walking through the fields, and experiencing the Terroir couldn’t be beat.  Travelling from A to B wasn’t putting on miles , it was a fabulous experience often on twisting backroads with snippets of History along the way. Visiting ruins was a high point for me and I thank Paul for his vast knowledge of these places and his infectious enthusiasm !  I won’t forget the meals we enjoyed. It is easy to go to the most expensive place in town but dining at out of the way places with exquisite food with local ideals enhanced the flavours.  Having a fabulous place to lay my head at the end of the day rounded the experience.
In a nutshell …I would highly recommend the tour to anyone…. Id love to go again!
